Ralph Lauren Adds Smart Fitting Rooms
Ralph Lauren may have touched on shopper’s nirvana with their addition of smart fitting rooms at their flagship Polo Ralph Lauren store on Fifth Avenue.
The fitting rooms have three features that build major convenience – an interactive screen that allows you to request help from a salesperson, three choices for lighting options, and the opportunity to purchase on the spot. The added features mean you can try on items in different sizes and colors without having to leave the fitting room, and you can bypass long lines by purchasing then and there.
Zoolander 2 Trailer Is Out, Woo Hoo!
The sequel to millennial cult classic Zoolander will finally be released in February. The trailer promises not to disappoint with cameos by Justin Bieber, Penelope Cruz and Benedict Cumberbatch. All of our favorites are back as well, including Owen Wilson and Will Ferrell. Most of the media is pretty excited by the release, though there are a few naysayers. Harper’s Bazaar also had a great roundup of the hype surrounding the film. My take is you have to be able to laugh at yourself – I hope the fashion elite will at least grab a chuckle from this new release.
Missy Elliott is back with a new single titled “WTF (Where They From).” Normally this wouldn’t be cause for fashion news, but Missy’s new look is one of the best I’ve scene all year and I think it’s going to spark a trend. Missy is sticking to her athletic street style, but she’s punched up the effect with a perfect irony. She’s combined a sharp bob haircut with a rainbow of lip colors. In her video, she wears every lip color from white hot to sparkling black. My personal favorite is the icy teal she sports. It’s a trend that can be very difficult to pull off – up to this point I’ve only seen Rihanna and a handful of Sephora salespeople make it work. But I think when you pair such a bold lip color with a grown up hairstyle as Missy did, it combines strength and audacity in one solid impact. For a more everyday look, you can pull this off with metallic jewel tone colors. I’ll definitely think about this look for the winter holidays – no better way to brighten up our heavy layered looks than with a jeweled toned lip.
